Vancouver Island Holiday Toy Train Needs Your Donations

Help the children of Vancouver Island with Donations Today!

This year, 2020, will be more challenging than usual for many children and their families on Vancouver Island and our Railway Communities are being called to action. Led by the Island Corridor Foundation (ICF), a group primarily comprised of First Nations bands on Vancouver Island, the 2020 Vancouver Island Holiday Toy Train will be run. The VITCC and ICF have jointly committed to support the Great Nanaimo Toy Drive, collecting and distributing toys to children for 38 seasons.

With the new Provincial Health Order imposed, it has become even more clear that gift giving for families in need will have to be handled differently, so to support them, we are accepting donations online. Every dollar donated will be used to purchase new toys and books that will be given directly to The Great Nanaimo Toy Drive, who will disburse gifts and donations to families registered with the organization.

The ICF Holiday Train 2020 run will be available primarily in and around the hub city of Nanaimo. On December 10th, the festively adorned ICF Holiday Train will be making its way along the tracks from the Nanaimo Train Station to a stop across from Steve Marshall Ford. Gift donations can be made here and will be safely collected by ICF and Southern Railway of Vancouver Island crews:

Nanaimo Train Station 4:30pm – 5:30pm 321 Shelby Street, Nanaimo

Across from Steve Marshall Ford 6:00pm – 7:30pm 3851 Shenton Road

We ask all photographers to use the hashtag #2020HolidayTrain if posting online.

If you would like to help purchase the toys that are most needed so no Nanaimo child will go without a gift this year, donate here and with every dollar given we will do the shopping for you.

Please take time to visit https://thegreatnanaimotoydrive.ca/ to either donate or commit to volunteer or through the ICF website at http://www.islandrail.ca/donations/.

From the VITCC, we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
